Sony's Bravia XR lineup is its premium TV range featuring the Cognitive Processor XR — Sony's AI-based picture processor that analyses 14 image features simultaneously instead of the standard 2. Here's how the three Bravia XR models available in India compare.

Sony Bravia XR Models in India 2026

ModelTechnologyPrice (55")Best For
A95LQD-OLED₹2,49,990Reference cinema
A80LOLED₹1,49,990Home cinema
X90LFull-Array LED₹89,990Bright rooms, HDR

What Is Cognitive Processor XR?

Sony's Cognitive Processor XR claims to process images the way human eyes perceive them — analysing what you focus on in a scene rather than processing all areas equally. In practice, this means:

  • XR Contrast Booster — improves local contrast around bright objects
  • XR Triiluminos Pro — expands colour gamut and accuracy
  • XR Clarity — upscaling algorithm for non-4K content
  • XR Motion Clarity — motion handling for sports content
  • XR Sound — matches audio direction to on-screen action (on OLED models with Acoustic Surface)

The Cognitive Processor XR is exclusive to Bravia XR models — Sony's non-XR TVs don't have it.

Sony Bravia XR A95L — ₹2,49,990 (55")

Best picture quality TV in India. QD-OLED technology (Quantum Dot + OLED) delivers:

  • OLED's perfect blacks and infinite contrast
  • Quantum Dot's wide colour gamut and higher brightness vs standard OLED
  • Up to 2000 nit peak brightness in Vivid mode

Cognitive Processor XR optimises this panel exceptionally. For dark room cinema viewing, the A95L produces images indistinguishable from a professional display monitor.

Acoustic Surface Audio+: Four drivers built into the screen panel — sound literally comes from the characters' mouths on screen. No need for external soundbar for immersive audio.

Note: At ₹2,49,990, it's significantly more expensive than LG C4 (₹1,29,990). The picture quality advantage is real but visible primarily in dark room, side-by-side comparison.

Sony Bravia XR A80L — ₹1,49,990 (55")

Standard OLED (not QD-OLED) with Cognitive Processor XR. The A80L hits the mid-premium sweet spot:

  • Perfect OLED blacks and contrast
  • XR processor's cinematic image quality
  • Acoustic Surface Audio (2 drivers)
  • ₹1,00,000 less than A95L

For most Indian home cinema buyers, the A80L represents the ideal balance — OLED picture quality with Sony's exceptional processing, at a price that's premium but not extravagant.

Sony Bravia XR X90L — ₹89,990 (65")

Full-array local dimming LED panel with Cognitive Processor XR. Not OLED — but significantly brighter than OLED in HDR highlights. Best for:

  • Bright Indian living rooms (high ambient light)
  • Sports viewing (fast motion, bright stadium content)
  • Large room where you need maximum brightness

The X90L doesn't achieve OLED's perfect blacks, but in bright room conditions, its Full-Array LED brightness advantage means better HDR performance than OLED.

Is Sony Bravia XR Worth It vs LG OLED?

Sony Bravia XR A80L (₹1,49,990) vs LG C4 (₹1,29,990):

A80L advantages: Sony's more natural colour science, Acoustic Surface Audio, Netflix Calibrated Mode.

LG C4 advantages: 4x HDMI 2.1 (gaming), 144Hz native, G-Sync Ultimate, ₹20,000 cheaper.

Verdict: Cinephiles choose Sony for picture science and audio. Gamers choose LG C4 for gaming features. Both are excellent — the gap is preference, not quality.

Bottom Line

Best cinema experience: Sony Bravia XR A95L (QD-OLED). Best value Sony OLED: A80L — XR processing + OLED at ₹1,49,990. Best Sony for bright rooms: X90L Full-Array LED. Alternative to consider: LG C4 is ₹20,000 cheaper than A80L with better gaming features.
