Check 85 inch TVs on Amazon

An 85 inch 4K TV is worth buying only if your room allows a viewing distance of roughly 3 to 4 metres and you can fit the delivery, with prices ranging from about ₹1.2 lakh for value LED models to ₹6 lakh or more for premium Neo QLED or Mini LED sets.

This is researched from brand ranges and specifications, not hands-on tested, so verify the exact dimensions, weight and VESA pattern of any model, and measure your door, lift and stairwell before ordering, since delivery is the step where many 85 inch purchases fail.

Prices below are approximate and can change during sales, so check the live price on Amazon before you buy.

Quick Pick: A value 85 inch 4K smart TV from TCL, Hisense or Samsung at roughly ₹1.2-2 lakh is the practical choice; step up to Mini LED only for bright rooms.

Do you have the room

An 85 inch screen is about 188 cm wide and 106 cm tall, and the TV itself is roughly 190 cm across. For 4K content, a comfortable viewing distance is around 1.2 to 1.6 times the screen's diagonal, which is roughly 2.6 to 3.4 metres; many people prefer a bit more, so 3 to 4 metres is a safe range. In an apartment living room of 10 x 12 feet (3 x 3.6 m), this screen will feel overwhelming.

Measure your wall: you need about 200 cm of clear width, a stand or wall bracket that supports 40 to 60 kg, and room for a soundbar below.

Delivery, lifts and installation

This is the part buyers underestimate. An 85 inch TV box is around 200 x 120 cm and can be 50 to 70 kg. Check the lift's internal size, stairwell turns and door widths. Many delivery teams only bring it to the door; installation is often a separate visit from the brand's technician. Confirm that installation is included and whether wall mounting is a paid extra.

Wall mounting needs a solid wall, ideally brick or concrete, and a heavy-duty bracket. Hollow drywall or partition walls are risky. See 85 inch tv wall mount for brackets, and match VESA and weight capacity.

Panel types in this size

Most 85 inch sets are LED-LCD with a VA or IPS-type panel. Brand lines include basic 4K, QLED with quantum dot film for colour, and Mini LED or Neo QLED with many local dimming zones for contrast and brightness. OLED in 83 inch from LG and Sony costs more but offers perfect blacks; it is a dark-room choice and more expensive than most 85 inch LEDs.

For bright Indian living rooms, Mini LED's high brightness helps in daylight. For movie rooms with controlled light, OLED gives the best contrast. Value LEDs are fine for general TV and sports but may show uneven backlight in dark scenes.

What to check on the spec sheet

Look for a refresh rate of 120 Hz if you will game, HDMI 2.1 ports for consoles, support for Dolby Vision or HDR10+, and a smart platform such as Google TV, webOS or Tizen. Also check how many HDMI ports are eARC; you will want one for a soundbar. Native 60 Hz panels work for TV and streaming but not for fast gaming.

Be careful with advertised refresh rates: "motion rate" numbers are often inflated, and native refresh is what counts.

Sound and soundbars

TV speakers at this size are thin compared to the picture. Plan on a soundbar, roughly ₹15,000-40,000 for a good one. A soundbar with subwoofer makes the setup feel complete.

Brand ranges to compare

Samsung's Crystal, QLED and Neo QLED lines, LG's QNED and OLED, Sony's Bravia range, and value brands like TCL and Hisense all have 85 inch sizes in India. Prices vary widely. Entry 85 inch sets from value brands begin around ₹1.2-1.5 lakh; mid-range QLED around ₹2-3 lakh; premium Mini LED or OLED beyond ₹4 lakh. Consider a 85 inch QLED TV for colour and brightness balance.

Power and cost of ownership

An 85 inch LED uses roughly 200-350 W while on, which can be a noticeable electricity cost over daily use, though still modest. Check the warranty, usually 1 year comprehensive and a longer panel warranty in some brands, and look at service reach in your city, since moving a huge TV for repair is hard.

Who should skip

Skip an 85 inch if your viewing distance is under about 2.5 metres, since the picture will look overwhelming and you will see the pixels. Skip it if you cannot get it through the door or lift. Skip it if you mostly watch low-resolution content: compressed cable TV looks soft on very large screens. A 75 inch 4K TV is easier to place and cheaper, and a 65 inch is enough for many rooms.

Recommendation

For a large hall with a 3 to 4 metre viewing distance: a value 85 inch 4K for sports and shows, or Mini LED for bright rooms, plus a soundbar and professional wall mounting. For a dark home theatre: look at OLED in 83 inch. Measure the path from the lift to the wall before buying.

Finally, a HDMI 2.1 cable 8k is worth buying for the long run between a console and a screen this large.
