A robot vacuum in India typically costs roughly ₹4,000-8,000 a year in spare parts, covering brushes, filters, mop pads and dust bags, with a battery replacement of about ₹5,000-10,000 after two to three years. Running costs are small compared with the purchase price, but they are not zero.

This guide is researched from manufacturer maintenance schedules and owner reports; I have not tested these robots. Before buying a robot or a parts kit, verify that spares for your exact model are available in India and whether third-party parts are accepted without voiding the warranty.

Prices below are approximate and can change during sales, so check the live price on Amazon before you buy.

Quick Pick: Budget roughly ₹4,000-8,000 a year for consumables on a ₹30,000-70,000 robot. Check robot vacuum spare parts on Amazon.

The replacement schedule

Manufacturers publish suggested intervals, and Indian dust and pet hair shorten them. A practical schedule:

  • Main brush: replace every 6 to 12 months, sooner with long hair.
  • Side brushes: every 3 to 6 months, as bristles bend and lose reach.
  • Filter: rinse monthly if washable, replace every 3 to 6 months.
  • Mop pads: every 3 to 6 months for cloth pads, depending on use.
  • Dust bag in an auto-empty dock: every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on dock size.
  • Battery: typically 2 to 3 years or about 300 to 500 cycles.

Main brush: the hair magnet

Rubber or hybrid main brushes tangle less than bristle brushes, but long hair still wraps the ends. Cut it off every week or two with scissors or the supplied tool. A worn brush loses suction contact with the floor, so cleaning performance drops long before it fails.

Cost is usually a few hundred to around ₹1,500 for a genuine brush. See robot vacuum main brush replacement.

Side brushes

These are small and cheap, around ₹300-800 for a pack, and they bend or snap with use. Replace when bristles splay out or the robot leaves edge dirt. See robot vacuum side brush pack.

Filters

HEPA-style filters trap fine dust. Tap them out weekly, rinse washable ones monthly and dry fully for 24 hours before reinstalling. Replace when they stay grey or smell musty. A pack typically costs ₹500-1,500. Dust-heavy cities such as Delhi, Jaipur and Hyderabad may need replacement more often. See robot vacuum HEPA filter replacement.

Mop pads and washing docks

Cloth pads wear and trap hair. Machine wash them where allowed, and replace when they look thin or smell even after washing. A dock's scraper and washing tray also need cleaning, and some docks recommend replacing the scraper annually.

Pad packs typically cost ₹800-2,500. Dock dust bags cost ₹500-1,500 per pack. See robot vacuum mop pads pack and robot vacuum dust bags.

Battery: the big future cost

Lithium batteries lose capacity, and most robots show noticeably shorter runtimes after two to three years. A replacement costs around ₹5,000-10,000, depending on model. Some brands sell batteries through service centres only, while third-party batteries are cheaper but may affect warranty and safety.

Extend battery life: avoid leaving the robot dead on its dock for months, keep it away from heat, and let it dock normally. See robot vacuum replacement battery.

Sensors, wheels and routine cleaning

Wipe the cliff sensors, bumper and LiDAR window monthly with a dry microfibre cloth. Remove hair from wheels, and check that the caster wheel spins. A stuck wheel often triggers error beeps, which seem like serious faults but are a quick clean.

Service and warranty in India

Most brands give one year of warranty on the robot, with shorter cover on batteries and consumables. Check the service network in your city; some brands operate through authorised centres, while others rely on courier pickup. Keep your invoice and register the warranty. Opening the robot yourself may void cover.

Ask about spare availability before you buy. Imported models without local parts become expensive to maintain, and a robot waiting weeks for a part is a robot not cleaning.

Third-party versus genuine parts

Third-party brushes and pads are cheaper and usually fit well, but quality varies. Filters are riskier: a poorly sealed filter lets dust into the motor. Batteries from unknown sources can be unsafe. For safety-critical parts such as batteries and chargers, stay with genuine ones.

Yearly cost sketch

For a typical family flat with one pet: two brush replacements, two filter packs, two sets of mop pads and a handful of dust bags come to roughly ₹4,000-8,000 a year. Add a battery around year three.

Who should skip a robot vacuum on cost grounds

If you want zero upkeep, a robot is not for you. If you have a small flat and clean daily, a cordless stick vacuum costs less to run.

Recommendation

Buy a robot whose spares are easy to find, keep a small stock of brushes, filters and pads, clean sensors monthly and plan for a battery in year two or three. Stay with genuine batteries and keep the invoice for warranty claims.
