Best Clothes Dryer and Tumble Dryer India 2026
A standalone vented or condenser tumble dryer costs roughly Rs 25,000-50,000 in India and a heat pump dryer Rs 70,000 or more; they are worth it mainly for monsoon months and flats without sunny balconies.

The best clothes dryer for most Indian flats is a standalone 7-8 kg vented or condenser tumble dryer at roughly Rs 25,000-50,000, with heat pump models at Rs 70,000 and above only worth it for heavy daily use. This guide is researched from dryer types and brand ranges, not hands-on use, so confirm the exhaust arrangement and the power socket before you buy, since both decide whether the dryer works in your flat.
Prices below are approximate and can change during sales, so check the live price on Amazon before you buy.
Quick Pick: A 7 kg condenser tumble dryer, roughly Rs 28,000-45,000, is the easiest to install because it needs no vent pipe to the outside.
Do you need a dryer at all
In most of India, sunshine dries clothes for free for much of the year. A dryer makes sense when:
- You live in a flat with no balcony, or a shaded one.
- The monsoon makes clothes sit damp for days and smell.
- You wash baby clothes, school uniforms and bedding daily.
- You live in a humid coastal city such as Mumbai, Chennai or Kochi.
- Society rules ban clothes hanging outside.
If you have a sunny terrace, a good washer with a high spin speed is cheaper and more efficient.
The three types
Vented dryers blow hot, moist air out through a flexible duct to a window or wall opening. They are the cheapest to buy and dry fast, but you need a duct route and a spot to vent. In a small flat, the hot humid air can be a nuisance if vented into a shared shaft.
Condenser dryers cool the moist air and collect the water in a tank or send it to a drain, so no venting is needed. They cost more and take a bit longer, but they work in any room with a socket. You must empty the water tank after each cycle or connect the drain hose.
Heat pump dryers recycle heat in a closed loop, using far less power and drying at lower temperatures that are gentler on fabrics. They are the most efficient, often using around half the energy of a condenser, but cost much more, so the saving takes years to repay unless you dry daily.
Space and power reality
A standard dryer is roughly 60 cm wide and deep. It can sit beside your washer or be stacked with a stacking kit on compatible front loaders. Check the door swing and the height under a counter, because most dryers are not designed to sit under standard kitchen counters.
Power draw is the bigger surprise. Vented and condenser dryers draw roughly 2-2.5 kW, so you need a 15 amp socket and a good wire gauge, not a shared 5 amp plug. A 5 kg load might cost a few units of electricity per cycle. At Rs 7-9 per unit, drying a full load daily adds a visible amount to the bill, so use the dryer for bedding and heavy items and hang light clothes.
Brands to shortlist
- Bosch: a range of vented, condenser and heat pump dryers with sensor drying, typically starting around Rs 40,000 and reaching Rs 90,000 for heat pump. See Bosch tumble dryer.
- IFB: vented and condenser dryers sold with washers in matching sizes, around Rs 28,000-45,000. See IFB tumble dryer.
- LG and Samsung: dryers with sensor drying and some heat pump models, roughly Rs 40,000-90,000. See LG heat pump dryer and Samsung tumble dryer.
- Whirlpool and Haier: more affordable vented or condenser options, roughly Rs 25,000-40,000. See Whirlpool dryer.
Model availability in India shifts, so check that the listing says "dryer" and not a washer-dryer combo.
Washer-dryer combos vs a standalone dryer
A combo does both in one drum, saving space, but drying capacity is about half the washing capacity, and cycles are long. A standalone dryer is faster and handles bigger loads. If space is tight, a washer dryer combo is acceptable for small families; for four or more people, a separate dryer is better.
Fabric and cost cautions
Do not dry woollens, silks, bras with wires, or shoes with glue unless the label allows it. Dryers also shrink some cottons. Check lint filters every cycle, because a clogged lint filter extends cycle time and wastes power. Use dryer balls to cut drying time and softness issues.
Recommendation
Choose a condenser dryer for most flats, because it needs no vent. Pick a vented dryer only if you have a clear outlet and want lower cost. Buy a heat pump model if you dry daily and expect to keep it for ten years. Size it to your washer: a 7 kg dryer pairs well with an 8 kg washer, since clothes expand when dry.
